I’ve been using Panasonic cameras for a couple of years now. I own two. The DMC-LZ7 is a 7MP/6x Optical Zoom point and shoot that I carry with me all the time. I have an account on Flickr and tend to take spur of the moment photographs. My other Panasonic digital camera is the DMC-FZ20. It is a 5MP/12x Optical Zoom camera. What I like about it is that I am able to attach filters to it and converter lenses. I have been considering upgrading my cameras, especially the larger format one. I think the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K from 42nd Street Photo is the best direct upgrade for that camera. I don’t know if my teleconverter lens will work with it, but it looks like a good step up from what I have. 42nd Street Photo is located in New York. Looking into camcorders

I am looking at camcorders. I am planning on doing some night sky recording later this year. I am applying the same thought process towards that as I do towards buying cameras. The emphasis will be on optical zoom first then pixels. I saw a couple of models at Target on Saturday. I am going to do some web searching before I decide on a model. I may end up spending this tax rebate thing on that. I don’t know yet. My Panasonic camera will do video but I cannot cancel the audio portion. It might be necessary to buy a video converter. The key to eliminating the audio may be in the fact that the converter I am using is freeware. I wish I could set up a night sky webcam to run constantly but that would require building a special shed for the back yard and running an internet line out to it. It would be better if I had some property away from the city’s illumination. The purpose of this is to enhance my blog with what will be a recorded feed rather than live. I’ll see what I can come up with.  When I am able to create a live feed I might have to take out extra insurance to cover the hardware, etc. since I won’t be able to be present all the time.

I don’t know if I would have made that exact sound. But that is a fantastic find. Definitely safer than that shark movie Megalodon on SciFi a few years ago. Finding the megalodon tooth lodged in your boat with the bloody root is scary. What I want to know is why the word megalodon has been flagged by the spell checker in this editor. It’s a real word. If you don’t believe me, go to the museum.

I’m not sure this is funny. I mean the cat is doing something you don’t usually see. But if she’s that thirsty, how about putting a bowl down and filling it with water? Oh well, it is cleaner than the toilet. But some washers spray hot water even when you have them set on cold. That might not be good for her. I guess the climax would be for her to lose her footing and fall in. But then they’d have a freaked out, wet kitty on their hands. You might end up with a hurt kitty if the cycle started while she was in there. And is this the wash cycle? So she falls in and you’ve got detergent and softener in there. Get the cat out of there.

Hmmm…maybe I’ve been going to the wrong parties. It certainly gives new meaning to the “blow by blow.” Of course if you were having halftime sex you might have missed this commercial. Interesting that this is how she has to get your undivided attention when you ignored her for 3 hours.

Ice Melting in Absinthe (Mute Speakers Please)

This is my first video I’ve actually created and posted online. It’s fifteen minutes watching ice melt in a shot glass filled with Absinthe. The camera doesn’t allow you to not record sound. So I have XM playing in the background. It’s just about the image so turn off the speakers if you want. I used CinemaForge to convert this for publication.

You know it wasn’t until the end that we really got to see the human side of Vader. I thought Anakin was a whining brat, especially after he grew up. But really, in episodes 4-6 I think Vader needed to get involved with a study of the humanities. Learn a language. Write poetry. Read. No wonder his thoughts were only evil continually. He could have played for the emperor and maybe saved a few worlds.
