Inverse Paradigm

I don’t expect many non-blacks to understand this. I am not sure many outside our race have the capacity to understand it. Some things are best understood by the people who are enduring them. We are part of the African diaspora. And we’re trying in different ways to identify with and piece together a culture that was taken from us centuries ago. Let’s don’t pretend that that didn’t happen. Outsiders may not think our identifying with our culture is important. Some people may “feel threatened” by that idea. And some people out there don’t want us to improve our lot in the world. They’re quite comfortable with the status quo. We’re not asking for opinions. We’re not all of a piece. But we’re doing something because we feel drawn to our heritage. And we had a heritage and a culture prior to the 17th century. I’m not asking for apologies for slavery. It happened. And this reconnection we’re doing is part of our attempt to move on. We hope that through efforts like this we can finally bring peace to our streets. Because what has been happening, especially programs and endeavors initiated by outsiders isn’t working. Now I don’t say anything when whites run down the lists of their European heritages. I try to remain silent, even though they begin to sound rather silly, like they’re listing a pedigree at a dog show with themselves as contestants. I am not being facetious. I have actually read forum posts where the subject of heritage came up and everyone spat out theirs. I’m always hearing people talk about being part German or French or Danish or Irish or whatever. I don’t get upset when I see the oval stickers with the abbreviations of different European nations like “CZ” or “GR” or “IT” or “UK”. You have your cultural identities. Why do you begrudge us ours?

I got my bag slung over my shoulder. It doesn’t mean I’m making any kind of sexual orientation statement. It also isn’t any of your business. I don’t have to justify a goddamned thing to you. I’m not interested in you, your sister or anybody else connected to you. So take your 3″ long ghetto fingernail having ass back in that Wal-Mart salon and leave me alone.

I do solemly swear that I will defend my people against all idiots, foreign and domestic.

This mainly has to do with dealing with people who make condescending compliment-ey sounding statements which are nothing but racist remarks dipped in High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Employees of a New York cable company arrived at work to find a noose hanging over the equpment pickup area.

Of course the supervisor who allegedly hung the noose denies he meant anything racist by it.

I cannot count the number of times people have done wrong to someone and then when confronted tried to say they were just joking or that they didn’t mean anything by it. The truth is, they did mean something by it. They just got caught.

After all the abjectly evil acts done against blacks over just the last century, how can you expect us to take a symbol like that any other way? This is no different than the bastards here in Austin who painted a swastika on the Hillel center window. Well there is this difference, they didn’t try to say it was just a joke.
