God. He’s better than theology.
I’ve been confused by the Evangellicose (Evangelical Bellicose) Neocon Christian “Right.” Whenever anyone has any thought of engaging in a “vice” out comes the WWJD memorabilia. For every bomb that falls over Iraq someone in this country is praising G-d for “dispatching our enemies.” A lot of the talk is done in CrossSpeak. That’s my term for this pompous Religious Pseudo-language that many Christians use. Think of it as the white-washed ebonics of pop-culture churchianity.
So I realized that since Evangelical Christianity is a religion of dualism, this war and everything associated with it and pretty much everything that the bureaucrats and officials do is either right or wrong. And this new theology of civil submission pretty much says that my “soul” is in jeopardy if I don’t “humble myself” before those who hold power. I decided to talk to G-d about it all because I never returned to the Evangelical church because of their support of the way things are. I generally don’t worry about the state of my “soul” because I believe that it is G-d, not theology that is in charge.
My prayer went somewhat like this: “Lord if they (Neocon Christians) are right and I am sinning to oppose this war and everything that is going on in this country, then when I wake up in the morning make me understand it all because I don’t. If this is your will for the direction this nation and the world should go in, then it should make sense. It should not be a mystery.”
Well I woke up the next day and I still cannot reconcile Jesus and collateral damage. Maybe that’s written in the 28th book of the New Testament. I can’t find it in my Bible.
The people of Islam are not the Amalekites or any other “ites” that were wiped out in the Old Testament. That’s more of the psychotic projectionist theology used to justify blowing up little kids with cluster bombs that are painted and have writing on them the same color as the food packs.
Proverbs talks about God hating hands that shed innocent blood. I wonder what he thinks about minds that twist his word for purposes of justification.
